HRplus Time - Payment Rules/Shift Payment Rules

The following improvements were added to:

  1. Payment Rules.
  2. Shift Payment Rules.

1. Payment Rules

The ability to calculate overtime for fortnightly-paid employees was added.

Step 1:  Setup

Complete the screen below ensuring that the various overtime rates are selected.

HRplus Time>>Schedules>>Payment Rules>>Setup

Step 2:  Overtime Hours

For fortnightly periods, simply complete the last line of the Overtime Hours screen.

HRplus Time>>Schedules>>Payment Rules>>Overtime Hours

HRplus Time>>Schedules>>Payment Rules

Step 4:  View Timesheets

HRplus Time>>Timesheets>>Timesheets>>Current

Step 5:  Post Timesheets

HRplus Time>>Timesheets>>Timesheets>>Post Timesheets

Step 6:  Process Payroll

The system will calculate and display the cycle changes for those employees who earned overtime beyond 80 hours (2 weeks).

Payroll>>Process Payroll>>Cycle Changes

Example

BAN19 - Nadia Stone

Overtime Hours as per Timesheet = 80

Cycle Change Entry = 9+8+11+12+11+11+8+8+11.5+11.5 - 80 = 21 Hours

2. Shift Payment Rules

A new feature, Shift Payment Rule Week Start Date, was added to Feature Management.  The feature allows for the:

  1. Activation/deactivation of its use (check/uncheck the feature)
  2. Start Date of the week to be defined i.e. 1 = Sunday; 2 = Monday.
  3. Calculation of overtime from the Start Date of the week as defined (Sunday or Monday), regardless of the pay cycle start date.
  4. Calculation of overtime for both weekly and fortnightly-paid employees.
  5. Automatic generation of the appropriate cycle changes for straight time and overtime when the timesheets are posted.

Example:

  • Employee A worked 36 hours between Monday and Thursday.
  • Employee A worked 8 hours each on Saturday and Sunday.

Employee A works no other hours in the cycle and overtime is paid in excess of 40 hours.

Calculating Overtime:

The system will determine the:

  1. week start date as defined in Feature Management.
  2. number of hours already worked for that week outside of the current cycle being posted (this value is taken from the timesheet history table (already paid timesheets) which were approved, not absent and part of the same payment rule).
  3. maximum hours to be paid at each rate bracket and reduce this value by the number of hours worked within the week prior to the cycle start.

Step 1:  Enable Feature

System Configurations>>Feature Management>>Shift Payment Rule Week Start Date

Step 2:  Post Timesheets

HRplus Time>>Timesheets>>Timesheets>>Current

HRplus Time>>Timesheets>>Timesheets>>Current>>Post Timesheets

Step 3:  Process Payroll

The generated Cycle Changes will show the correct amounts for those employees who have overtime beyond 80 hours as well as the straight time amount for the employees.

Payroll>>Process Payroll>>Cycle Changes

Since the week start was set as Sunday (see Calendar below), then only the 1st and 2nd of January will be the days paid for the first week in Cycle 1.  Nadia Stone only worked on the 1st of January in the first week so only 8 hours is paid.
