N.I. Schedules
An employee pays national insurance (NI) contributions to qualify for certain state benefits, including statutory payments. The amount the employee pays ( contributions) depends on their weekly or monthly earnings and NI class. The employer also makes separate NI contributions on their behalf, which are not deducted from the employee’s pay.
For payroll processing, the earnings bands and NI thresholds as defined in the NI Schedules for the relevant country, is used to automatically calculate the exact percentage to be deducted for both the employee and employer contributions. The N.I. schedule for the relevant country is programmed on HRPlus to allow the requisite calculates to be effected. These can be edited by the end user based on changes made to the schedule.
