How do I enter/change an allowance for bi-monthly payrolls?

Updated on

POWERpay>>Process Payroll>>Cycle Changes

Bi-monthly payrolls are processed twice per month and will have 24 pay cycles (odd and even) in a year.  For example, for the year 2018, a bi-monthly pay group may have pay cycles as follows (only the first 6 are shown):

Pay Cycle 1    1st January 2018 to 15th January 2018           (odd)

Pay Cycle 2    16th January 2018 to 31st January 2018        (even)

Pay Cycle 3    1st February 2018 to 15th February 2018       (odd)

Pay Cycle 4    16th February 2018 to 28th February 2018    (even)

Pay Cycle 5     1st March 2018 to 15th March 2018                 (odd)

Pay Cycle 6    16th March 2018 to 31st March 2018              (even)

For allowances that are different for the 1st and 2nd pay cycles, enter F FIRST CYCLE and O SECOND CYCLE cycle changes.  THESE ENTRY TYPES ARE ONLY TO BE USED FOR BI-MONTHLY PAY GROUPS.

  • F FIRST CYCLE of a bimonthly payroll applies to ‘odd’ (pay cycles 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11).
  • O SECOND CYCLE of a bimonthly payroll applies to ‘even’ (pay cycles 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12).

If the allowances are the same, simply enter a N NEW or C CHANGE allowance cycle change.
