What is the order of calculation for statutory deductions?

Updated on

POWERpay>>Maintenance>>Statutory Deductions>>Pay Group Statutory Link

The order of calculation (which statutory deduction is calculated first, second etc. by the payroll) is determined by the numbered setting on the Pay Group Statutory Link (POWERpay>>Maintenance>>Statutory Deductions>>Pay Group Statutory Link).

The Order of Calculation is different for every country.

This Order of Calculation is different from the Default Priority which is configured on the deduction payroll code.  The Default Priority cannot be applied to statutory deductions as this indicates the order in which a deduction should be backed out if the employee does not have enough money, ensuring the employee can at least go home with some money.

Statutory deductions cannot be backed out and can actually send the employee into negative pay if the employee does not have enough money to cover the deduction.
